3. Triptych by Karin SlaughterA stand-alone novel that is not part of Slaughter's Grant County series. Which, as I have said elsewhere, are really compelling mysteries with really annoying investigative characters

Despite a strong feeling that her name just has to be false (or a very good example of nominative determinism), I quite like those of her books that I've read. Triptych was particularly good.
