Currently in St Augustine, the oldest permanent European settlement in the continental US. It's beautiful. Books on the history of Florida have been purchased. Enough that the lady on the till at the Castillo asked whether I'm a teacher

I swear that I'm actually getting lighter; it's as if the sun is bleaching me.  Not that I mind having a pallid complexion. :)

I could live with that. My arms are covered in freckles, my chest and shoulders have intermittent sunburn, and my legs are still alabaster white.

Wow, you nearly sold me on Florida. You know I've never been? Really should travel and experience more of my own country.

I can't believe you needed a sweater in July in the UK! And it actually sounded nice to me! I'm at the point with the sometimes oppressive humidity that I'm looking forward to fall. Goes to show the grass is always greener on the other side.
