So, I used to flit from fandom to fandom every few months. Then FMA happened, and I've been here for five years, give or take. Not that I didn't enjoy other shows from time to time, but nothing pulls at me like FMA

I flit from fandom to fandom all the time some I'm brought back to other once lost I never return to the ones that have stuck so far are Naruto, and Harry Potter although currently I'm on an NCIS kick
the weird part is man, I don't even DO live action fandom. I'm always a little weirded out because I so much associate the character with the actor and it's usually a bit too close to RPF to me, but I think I'm getting over the squick.
I definitely had that problem too! I read some live action series fanfic here and there before I really got into fandom (started with Torchwood- have you met Jack yet, btw?) but when I did get into fandom, oh I just knew I wasn't going to get TOO into the live action stuff.
Yeeeeah. Didn't quite pan out that way.
I think, for me, I have to be able to completely disassociate the character and the actor. If I had never been able to see David Tennant as the Doctor, I could have never gotten into it that way. (Conversely, I saw him as the Doctor so much that when he left the series, it was kind of weird seeing him as other characters, lol.)
Oh I just love Jack. I think actually the only reason I'm not super inclined to write Jack/Rose/Doctor is because it was so canon I'm already satisfied with it XD
Cryo and I were actually talking about how some of it is probably that at least for the Doctor, so many people have played him (and I've been exposed to all of them since I watch both Classic and New Who), I don't necessarily associate the real person with the character, even if I borrow their face for a while. If that makes sense. Anyway, I'm completely obsessed right now XD
LOL I used to jump between Who and FMA regularly. Than I started crossing them over....00;
Something about the two shows just, well draw me in. Than again, been a who fan for years, since I was like well, 10? So gotta be like over 35 years for me 00;
But both Doctor Who and FMA have a great deal of detailed material, great characters and lost of room for writing fanfic!
