I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND IT IS AMAZING

Even keeping a name secret is no guarantee of preventing a legacy of damage; it's an inheritance they are compelled to pass on, one that keeps them from being entirely alone.

EEEEE

When she must cross the world alone, she does; when she must hold a finger on the button to destroy all of her own species, she will; when she must fly away, she spreads her wings and makes sure to take something shiny before she goes.

AAAAH

The blackbird framework, the poem and the extended metaphor, are brilliant and delightful.

Shadows sewn to their feet!

AND HOW HE DOESN'T WANT ROSE ANYMORE ARGH TERRIBLE AND AWESOME

And Wendy Darling!

AND SQUAWKING

SQUAWKING!!!

MY GOD I AM SO GLAD IT WORKED. I mean, with mirror imagery and blackbird imagery and Peter Pan imagery and all that it's kind of absurd that it all came together. Also, mwahahaa, sometimes I am masochistic and just have to point out all the darkness in this delightful family show, such as Sarah Jane being hurt about what happened to her... and promptly passing the entire cycle along to half the kids on her street. I LOVE WHAT THE BRITS DO TO THEIR CHILDREN.

SQUAWK!

ETA: AND HOW HE DOESN'T WANT ROSE ANYMORE ARGH TERRIBLE AND AWESOME

I JUST I JUST...I MEAN, TURN LEFT, DID YOU SEE IT? THAT IS NOT OUR ROSE. And then while watching it, it knid of occurred to me that she's a lot like Nine, very tired and wandery and wearing leather and stuff. I kind of want parallel hand-reaching icons, only nobody would know what was in my head from the imagery. Hmph.

Fuck me sideways. This was BEAUTIFUL. I am absolutely haunted by what you did with Ten2 and Rose... mostly because it's totally believable that Ten was thinking exactly that, but the romantic in me would never land at that conclusion without someone else spelling it out for me first.

Now that you have, I can't NOT think of it that way. It's sadder and happier at the same time.

Thanks! Yay for doing twisty things in your mind! Yeah, it really hit me while watching Turn Left that series four's Rose was so different than the one we knew from earlier, and she had spent so much time alone, wandering from universe to universe, never telling her name, and probably seeing a lot of awful things. Much like the Doctor, Nine in particular. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Ten leaving Ten II for Rose as a support, not a responsibility. I think she needs someone.

The more I think about it, actually, the more I like it too. It's actually kinder than the whole idea of Ten giving Rose his clone and saying "Fix him."

When I first watched JE it felt really wrong, before I convinced myself that Ten and Rose being able to be together forever was what counted the most, because it seemed like the reward for all of Rose's hard work to save the multiverse was... getting babysitting responsibilities. I'm sure the lack of inter-universe post was the reason the Doctor never got a thank you note for that one. But yeah, with the situation being reversed, maybe Rose gets the chance to receive a lot of the same grace that she's given to the Doctor.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Instead of being angry at the Doctor I just understood him. Oh, thank you. I think this was my favorite line:

Often he does not lie because he does not care enough: the truth will not bother him again after he disappears into the centuries.

AMAZING. So telling, so revealing. Although your language is beautiful throughout and I could pick out a dozen more lines I loved. :D

Also: Have to echo thunderemerald; your telling of what happened with Ten II and Rose (and with Ten and Donna!!!!) makes so much more sense. This actually makes my head hurt a lot less and more, at the same time.

YOU ARE WONDERFUL AND FANTASTIC, OKAY?

EEEEEEEE THANK YOU SO MUCH DEAR. ♥ ♥ ♥ I'm glad you liked how the language worked, I was really trying to be concise. It was actually your post on TW:CoE that inspired the second paragraph of the Jack section, that totes would not have been there. I was thinking about comparing Jack's grandson/Doctor's granddaughter but it just didn't really work out to do so explicitly.

Also: Have to echo [info]thunderemerald; your telling of what happened with Ten II and Rose (and with Ten and Donna!!!!) makes so much more sense.

Good! I already have the Ten II and Rose fic starting to percolate in my head; hopefully by the time it's ready for pouring I'll have another fic done. The muses are not kind with letting me focus on and finish one thing at a time.
