The going-to-the-library thing bothered me a lot too for the very reasons you stated: She should be guarding the house and there's not much need to visit a library anymore for information anyway. Special collections and old records that aren't online yet, sure. But Cameron was looking at that kind of stuff because she'd already gotten onto the whole Myron Stark thing by chance.

I like your take on it all. Eric was her "friend" and that definitely gave her a different level of interpersonal interaction than every day life with the Connors or being out in public doing mission stuff. She learned a lot from him about life and death and cancer and happiness and... people's love of donuts. He was useful to her in many ways and even though I still find it a bit unrealistic for her to spend time in a library at night, it wasn't a waste of her time either.
