I liked this one a billion times better than Boneshaker. The original setting may have had a lot to do with it. When she started talking about Cleveland, TN, I was bouncing in my chair, cause that place is an hour away from me.
But objectively, I did feel it was a stronger book. In the previous one, we get Zach's POV, which never did anything for me.
Yeah, I'm with you about Zac's POV. I enjoyed Briar's POV in Boneshaker, but Zac's was very forgettable.
Setting obviously wasn't a huge factor for me in this one (being from Canada and all -- I actually don't know THAT much about the Civil War), but it's still an interesting time and place to read about.
You reading a story set in the US is like me reading a story set in Canada or England or any other foreign country: I've not been there, so I have to rely on the author knowing what the hell she's talking about, and giving me the sense that I've been there once she's done!
