The romance didn't work well for me in this one, but I still ended up enjoying it, as Taylor does a lot in this book that you don't see in young adult fiction (such as the Prague setting, which really draws attention to how US centric YA works are). I agree that ending really makes you want to read further. Fortunately, November's not THAT far away, right?
I'm surprised at how much the romance didn't bother me, but it didn't make me swoon either. I found the way Akiva followed Karou around for a bit kind of creepy, especially considering he didn't know who she was at that point.
And thank God November is so close!! I initially thought the second book was going to be released in September (not sure why), so I was bummed when I found out it was actually November, haha. Ah well. :P
No, yours wasn't spoilery at all! :) A lot of reviews I had read talked about the angels vs. demons/chimaera angle of the story, which isn't strictly spoilery, but I think the reading experience could potentially be better if one jumped in not knowing that.
