I prefer the term resentful. Too many experiences of "reverse discrimination". Which doesn't apply to everyone of course...but if a random person shows themselves to fit into a stereotype of that type of behavior...I certainly won't go out of my way to be friendly.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand. What do you mean by this?

Undeserving accusations of being racist. I grew up in a city where whites are actually a minority- mostly Asians and Hispanics. I had no reason to think ill of Black people, and one of my good friends in preschool was black ( ... )

You explained yourself quite well, and I agree with a lot of what you said. The same thing irritates me.
I believe this test looks for bias in both directions, so it would also reveal the sort of thing you're talking about.

I just took the "race" test thingy.. tricstmr March 30 2005, 18:16:28 UTC

And it told me that I had a preference for dark skin over light skin... but I'm not really sure why...

I mean.. I did go fast.. but I figured out the "system" fairly fast.. and it wasn't too hard to get your brain to "switch" association fairly fast... in the second part of the test.. I just thought "evil white" and it all worked out fine...

I also wondered what would happen if you had reversed the order of this particular test.. I mean--in the first part--train you to associate darker faces with good adjectives and then switch it...

would you get the same results?

I think it might have some sort of effect. But in large-scale experiments, I'm sure this is compensated for by switching off the order, and those experiments have shown that people do tend to have an implicit bias toward white.

I've been wondering if INTJs are particularly more capable of gaming this sort of test. I did something similar.

According to the Gender-Science test, I was strongly for women & science, which is contrary to the overall trend. I wonder if I have this bias because I myself am a woman in science? It's only interesting because if anyone were to ask me who was more likely to be a scientist or what kind of demographics to expect in a lab setting (especially post-undergrad), I'm more likely to predict males over females. Consciously, I do associate men much more so than women with the sciences. (Though I blame it on societal influence, not inherent aptitude.)

I'm curious as to how much your own personal characteristics influence these things. So, would darker-skinned people still prefer lighter-skinned people overall? Would gay people still prefer straight people? Etc.
