Does anyone else find that relationships or having a significant other or dating interferes with efficient productivity?

very much so... whenever i try to have a significant other, it always messes with how productive i am in other areas (such as classwork) unless i'm strict about controlling the amount of time i spend with them. i also only typically date once every few years.. i think part of the decreased productivity has to do with the fact that i have to be pretty into someone to spend time around them at all--if i'm dating them, i'm likely to be very fond of them and not care so much for the consequences of spending inordinate amounts of time with them.

Hugely. I actually told my significant other of 8 years (well, we're not doing very well right now) that our careers and education come first, before our relationship. That was 8 years ago and I was 18 at the time. While I still feel strongly about my personal progress in terms of work and education, I don't really know how to fit it into my relationship, and it's taken a big toll on that aspect of my life. It also didn't help, I don't think, that my partner is an ENTJ.

Personally, I'm looking forward to starting over, and finding some way to integrate relationship and work.

Hey, ENTJ isn't that bad--they should understand the NTJ issues.

Try being partnered to an ESFJ. *Bangs head on wall*

Absolutely. If I were to plot out a graph of productivity, the lowest points would be when I was in a relationship. I just did this recently.

I'm sort of curious how you tracked your productivity for graphing. I've been meaning to do something of this nature (more in terms of balance than overall productivity) for quite some time, but have not found the time to organize it as I'd like.

I keep a time tracker - it used to be for work, but now I keep it because I think it's really interesting to note where my time goes.

I had in my head to create something that tracks not only the amount of time/effort spent on something but linking that to the goals and accomplishments. It'd be a really snazzy program, unfortunately I don't have the time to learn the language to create it right now.

Very much so. I'm currently involved with the NRE addiction with another INTJ. My roommate jokes about what my current address is for him to send his wedding invite to since I'm never here ( ... )
