[His voice is tired and strained]

So, who exactly do you see about getting back to Kansas when you're the Wizard exactly? And before you ask, I left my ruby slippers back in Chicago.

Judging by the clock on this thing, I've been gone a few days, so I can-

[There's a sound of him shifting and a muffled grumbleCan only assume that everything has ( Read more... )

[Sounds very happy/relieved/upset/tired/etc]

Harry! I-

[takes a deep breath, trying to conceal her emotions, her voice still sounds a little shaky at first]

E-everything is alright for the most part.

[voice drops, can probably barely here her mutter]

I let you down.

[His voice suddenly sounds like a weight has lifted from him]

Riza!

[Takes a moment to gather himself. His voice is full of suppressed emotion]

That's good. I should have known you'd all be just fine without me.

[Suddenly his tone becomes more serious]

No, you didn't. Riza, I'm not sure anything could have prevented what happened, and I know you're a lot smarter than I am, so I should only have to say this once. It's not your fault.

Thomas took charge shortly after he found out and organized everyone into a search party and other jobs. When we couldn't find you that way we joined a bigger search party.

I...honestly think the Strand would have been much more chaotic if he hadn't.

[Takes a deep breath because she knows her voice is probably going to crack soon]

I know...it's just...I should have known you and the others who were taken would be prime targets. It's hard for me to accept this, since it feels like it could have been preventable...somehow.

[Voice hardens with determination and a bit of anger]
I promised to protect you, Harry and they STILL snatched you from right under me.

Are we thinking of the same Thomas?

[There's really no hiding the pride in his voice]

Just great, I'm never going to hear the end of this from him.

[His voice is surprisingly calm, if clearly strained.]

They got past all our defenses Riza. These bastards are smarter and more powerful than anything we've dealt with in this city. I know you did everything you could, and who knows, maybe there's a reason no one else was taken from the Strand. Besides, I thought irrational guilt was my gig in this relationship

[His voice softens]

Knowing you're safe, it's already making me stronger.

Empty night, Harry. This was not the way I expected to be paid back for freaking you out when I disappeared. Sheesh.

Do you realize how worried everyone was? Riza has barely slept since you left and my sleep schedule hasn't been too great either. [sarcastic/you can hear his smirk] It's a good thing I don't need beauty sleep, you know.

Come on Thomas, you should know better than anyone what a vindictive ass I am.

[Softly] Damn...I hurt them again. [Suddenly his one brightens] Probably not, but they say sleep is also essential for brain development, and god knows you can't afford to miss out on any of that.

Well, now we're even. So you better not pull this shit again or there will be words.

[Sighs] Don't start beating yourself up yet. Wait till you're home first.

[snorts] Says you. You're probably dumber than a rock by now.

Really? Because I was thinking of integrating random abductions into my daily routine.

[tired laugh] Sorry, I am doing things out of order aren't I? First is the heroic escape, then the pity party.

Hey, I'll have you know I've met some very bright rocks in my time.

[Her voice is strained and tired, and she sounds like she'll be crying any second now]
What do you need slippers for? We'll get you a transporter.

[a muffled sob]
I'm glad you're alright Harry.

[Gives a tired laugh]

Come on grasshopper, you know Star Trek, with its presentation of a future based solely on technology, is clearly anti-wizard propaganda.

[His voice becomes softer, almost gentle]

I'm not going anywhere Molly. I've got people who are too important to me.

[she gives small shaky laugh in return]
I didn't think you'd appreciate me saying we'd get you a broomstick.

[a deep breath and a even more shaky sigh]
I know.
Just... try to stay out of trouble while we come and get you?

Very true. I rescind my complaint.

[you can practically hear his grin]

Hey, it's me.
