Anybody awake out there? It's Smoke and I'm looking at my bar, rather upset by how much damage the fire did. Guess I'm going up to Temp to raid an empty room. I don't need a beautiful cot or anything, but it'd be nice to have a pillow & blanket. Starting tomorrow I'll be fixing the place up by hand, just like how I built it ( Read more... )

I have no idea who I was. I only know who I am. Every time I try to wrap my head around calling myself Gojyo without remembering everything, it makes my head hurt. It's a lot easier to just move on, calling myself Smoke, making a new life for myself in spite of whatever my old life was like. Well, not just easier. It makes sense in my head, not sure why. A new name is a new start.

If that is your decision, then I'll respect it. I don't think the rest of us have as much freedom to chose between the person we are now and the person we were. Because you do, perhaps you should take it.

Funny? How is it funny? [Aurora huffs, looking a little ruffled at the insinuation. What was so strange about them being friends? It seems perfectly logical to him.] You are a good person. Why wouldn't I want to be friends with you?

Ghost hardly strikes me as "shy." Are you sure you spoke with the correct person? He is very straightforward with his opinions, sometimes too much. We've had several arguments before.

It's funny because of how we butted heads at first - normally you don't become friends with people you start off yelling at.

I've yelled at a lot of people I've become friends with. Or at least, that I consider neutral parties. [He pauses a moment, rethinking his words.] I suppose you and Ghost are the only two I've truly argued with and then befriended.

[He nods at the accurate description.] Yes, that's Ghost. I like him, or otherwise we would not be friends. But we still argue, occasionally. I argue with Raise sometimes, too, because he doesn't know what's best for him.

There have been times when Edensphere has not allowed us to hear specific things, or arranged for our death and erased memories if we learned things too quickly. But normally I thought that only applied to our past, not our lives here.

I don't know, honestly. I think it would have come up, if the two of you were from the same world, but it's possible. I would ask Bridge about it; I know he and Ghost are from the same world, along with Sky and a person named Pinky. Here, let me show you- [He gets up from the table and retrieves his journal, flipping it open to an entry by Bridge.]

See now that's weird... I remember helping Bridge rescue Spike - oh, right, Sky - and that's why I know what he means by transforming or morphing or whatever it's called. And I remember Pinky's one of their friends.

... So I guess that's not it.

Okay. Uhm. Oh! Ghost mentioned he worked at the bar, so that tells me at least how long he's been around...

It was a good idea, though, and worth investigating.

I don't know if he begin working at the bar because you were lovers or if that's how you initially met. But the both of you were born around the same time, give or take a month or so, for what that is worth.

And of course the Sphere can't give me a break now, either. I guess you both must've used similar words.

... Let me ask it this way. He's the only one that the Sphere's messing with me about. Everyone else I haven't forgot have been my friends. I mean even Chosen, who's like my brother, I remember him. And Sniper and Cross helped me build the bar, so it can't be the fact that we worked together. Same for Alexi and Kanin and even Blood.

So can you tell me: "He was a friend and nothing more" or "He was a friend and something else". And we'll see what this place let's me hear.
