Why I'm glad I retired. That is one miserable semester! Have you thought about teaching online? It is more work, but at least you can do it when it suits you (pretty much).

Yes, I have taught online. I did a lot of it when my mum was still alive and I was looking after her. And, in fact, it turns out that the solution to at least the conflict part of this disastrous schedule is being solved by switching out one section for an online section. It will be more work, as I plan some new material in that course this term and will have to build some online components for it, but at least I won't have the back-to-back classes any more, or the late Fri afternoon.

Last minute online is not fun! Sorry to hear that, but glad it makes those others easier.

I also feel some sympathy for your scheduler. I have made screw-ups like that (finally we got software to prevent it, but I did it by hand for years--for over 100 people). Glad it all worked out in at least partly bearable form.

I used to do a lot of evening classes, but at least the college understood that if you weren't finishing until 9 pm, then it wasn't fair to ask you to come in at 8.30 am the next morning. It sometimes happened, but you got extra time off somewhere in the week to compensate.

I've been teaching evening classes for about the last three years in a row, and had asked the Chair not to give me one this time. To be fair, she tried not to, but somewhere what had been scheduled for the afternoon got moved to the evening, and it's my creative writing course so I don't want to give it up.

I hope that at least the timeturner is provided - I'd say that's double-time at least ;-)

I also hope you get first dibs at a decent schedule next term...
