With our previous family dogs (the current batch are all younger dogs) I do remember that sensation of realizing one's dog was getting older, and wanting really hard to stop time.

When Sandy (our golden retriever) was having trouble jumping on the bed, my parents removed the frame to lower the boxspring and the bed down to a level that Sandy could manage.
