Fifteen Years On...

You know that meme where you say what you were doing 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago... well, it gets kind of monotonous in my case. Monotony aside, congratulations on your accomplishment. You should be proud. It must be rewarding when those occasions arise and you are thanked for your impact on someone's life. It can be a long road of ungrateful students too I'm sure, but I know my teachers have always had a big impact on me. And that is precisely why I want to head into teaching. :)

Thanks :) I didn't mean to imply that the _job_ was monotonous, because it isn't at all - that's one of the things that attracted me to it in the first place. And yes, hearing back from past students is ABSOLUTELY the best - someone telling me that he visited Keats' grave in Rome and thought of me, or that he or she was inspired to go into further studies in English, or even just, as one 1st year student said "I used to hate English - maybe it's not so bad..." I like working with new teachers, too, because I know how important mentors were to me in my own career.
