It's maybe not your aesthetic (it's a bit on the generic side) but they've got good quality for reasonable prices.

There are a bunch of furniture stores on Valencia, maybe around 20th. It'd be a pleasant afternoon to walk down there and browse.

often there's awesome design within reach-y higher end furniture on craigslist for cheap, esp. towards the end of the month when people are moving and desperate to get rid of their stuff.
