  1. Anyone catch the Matmos show yet on this current tour? I'm wondering if it's parent friendly. Please advise.
  2. this audio interview with Cat Power is entertaining. In it, Chan talks about her favorite new musical find Boubacar Traoré.

matmos is parent friendly, they have innovative ideas about the creation of music, but nothing shocking. the audience in toronto were all 30+ in age. the only questionable moment perhaps was spanking an ass for sound, but it mostly just made the audience uncomfortable laugh. they played two shows in toronto and apparently the first night they didn't do it, because they couldn't find a volunteer.

care to offer a rebuttal? interimlover October 16 2006, 16:20:35 UTC
"I would give it a 7. Matmos was all noise, the opening band out here was really rhythmic and percussive, but Im not sure about Walter Kitundu, never seen him before. matmos also played a video creating rhythms with someone being spanked
it was very explicit. Opened minded parents may tolerate the show but certainly not enjoy it, and with-it parents may enjoy it ;-)

hope this helps.
Mike"

hilarious. seeing someone spanked is suggestive, but worse can be found on tv.

matmos played with so percussion out of new york at the toronto show.

sure some of the concert was noise based but it all had it's place and reason.

i would give the toronto show a 9 out of 10. they put matthew herbert to shame when it comes to experimenting with objects.

Cat Power mentions (response to your Cat Power Miami question) dulcett October 15 2006, 21:54:48 UTC
Yup. I threw a show or two with Josh Menendez back in the day before he blew up into an ultra big shot promoter extrodinaire. Good times at a hole in the wall on Biscayne Bay.

Apparently matmos lives down the street from me. My apt is on the 800 block of Hampshire St too.
