McDonald's Corp said it would selectively increase menu prices this year to help offset an expected rise in its own grocery bill for the 10 commodities that account for around 75 percent of its food preparation costs.

It's not just the oil-based fertilizers that worry me. Food delivery is going to change on a massive scale. Say goodbye, 3,000 mile salads.

I freeze, can and otherwise preserve (rootcellaring) as much of the garden as possible--but I don't buy fresh tomatoes in January.

Yes, I crave fresh fruit sometimes, but the frozen stuff generally tastes almost as good.

Oh, absolutely. We've been keeping up because of an artificially induced period of plenty, but unless we come up with alternative for oil (fusion energy?) we're headed towards a steep drop off.

It matters if humanity is causing it or not, because it will change how we address the problem. If we operate in a strictly carbon controlled economy (assuming the climate change is anthropogenic CO2 driven), double the cost of supplied electricity amongst many many other things. That is HUGE. If mankind is not behind the majority of climate change, we'd be paying a lot of money for very little to no benefit.
