no worries about adjusting. i think everyone is. even the people at school, adjusting to not having everyone around. sounds like you're doing a good job though so far. :)
about the girl...i'd say ask her for coffee or movie or hang out or something, and if she says she's busy when you ask, ask her for number. so you can invite her again at a later date, or better yet, exchange numbers. what's the worst that can happen? she doesn't call or doesn't take the number, but at least that way you tried. she sounds nice though :)
You have to not worry about being too forward and just ask her. It's hard to be percieved as too foward by people who would like to hang out with you, especially if you keep it friendly -- but not too friendly, must add a little tension!
ask for the damned number! damn you john, you haven't learned this yet :D love ya! how far is it from work? lunch maybe? sat brunch or sun even maybe maybe, who knows. exchange numbers, give her the option of calling you and 'stating her intentions'. of course you realize, she probably won't really 'state her intentions', but she will call, that's the intention part! got it? you'll do fine...tell us! tell us! get the number, hear me john, get the number! :D
