Ingrid's intangibility device and accompanying suit (a post in progress)

There are only three ways you'll meet Ingrid: inside her bubble; outside her bubble and freaked out; and outside her bubble and intangible.

Ingrid has no viable immune system. As such, she lives in a sterilized bubble in the Battle Dome clinic, where all her food, clothing, every object she touches and the very air she breathes is purified before she encounters it. Normally she'd never be able to leave this bubble for fear of an infection her body can't fight.

However, her father, being a mad scientist, developed a device that utilizes both magic and technology to turn her body completely intangible by phasing it between dimensions. Germs, bacteria, walls, the floor, and air all pass right through her, while she is still affected by gravity and most of the electromagnetic spectrum, including visible light. To keep her from falling to the center of the earth and suffocating, her father also invented a system to allow her to breathe purified air and interact with the physical world, as seen in the diagram below.

Mad props to my friend Aiwe for drawing this.

(I'm sorry some of the text is so small. You can make the picture larger by clicking on it, but some of that will still be hard to make out.)

Ingrid's suit consists of a pair of spandex bike shorts and shirt upon which a web of contact points connected by wires attach; an air intake valve which connects to a face mask, which also houses a pair of earphones which allow her to hear and a set of speakers that allow her to be heard (being intangible means no interacting with the air, which means no sound and no breathing :| ). Her intake valve makes fan noises about the level of an elderly computer, and she has no smell. The contact points are powered by a low-grade electric current, so they are not pleasant to touch, though they don't hurt. The entire set also includes a space blanket that is made of the same material as the contact points and serves the same purpose.

To be able to pass through solid objects, the contact points have a power button on the gloves which, when pressed by the specific contact point in her index finger, will cause the current to stop, rendering her completely intangible (except for her shoes, which are on a different circuit). This does also render her breathing device temporarily inactive as well, but there is usually enough ambient air in her mask to allow her to walk through walls or people without even having to hold her breath. She can even breathe underwater!

Since the suit was not designed for wings, Ingrid has to shift the back plates a bit to allow her wings to sit above them. It's a little uncomfortable, but they go intangible with the rest of her.
