2024 Hike: East Rock Hike, New Haven, Connecticut

I have a target of 15 hikes for 2024. The first one I went to was East Rock Hike in New Haven. This has been on my list for a long time. I loved the hike a lot although we took an hour more than it required more because of lack of practice. We went on a trail for half of it and then moved on to the paved road to the top of the East Rock mountain.
A perfect places for short hikes, long hikes, biking, running and kayaking. We took the White/Yellow Trail with some portion of it on the banks of Mill River. The mountain and the surroundings are home to song birds, beautiful flora, water fauna, a peaceful river, a dam on Lake Whitney that flows into the Mille River and several historical places including the Soldiers and the Sailors' Monument at the top.
