Round 41: Wrap It Up At this point in your life, you might notice that our inspiration post is looking a little different than normal...but that's just because we wanted to take some time out of a busy month to get in the holiday spirit. For the first ten days of this round, all we ask is that you provide us with some things that inspire YOU. Be it songs, graphics, textures, fonts, words, or other things we haven't thought of, let us know what makes your muse tick. Post your inspirations (or a link to them) in a comment to this post. To start things off, we thought we'd share some of our favorite things with you... [Caryn is inspired by...]
I went way back in my inspiration folder to find some of the pieces that stuck with me back when I was trying to establish my style. In order, we have: weird texture use, different caps on different levels, silhouettes and fake backgrounds, bright colors + lighting + blur, and close crops with text on face.
I made three color palettes based on icons or groups of icons posted to my comm. It's not anywhere close to all the color combos I use, but I had to narrow down somewhere...
I usually try to find weirdass music to listen to while iconning in hopes of inspiring myself to be more ~out there~. I'm not saying it works, but here's a couple songs from two of my favorite iconning mixes.
Quite simply my favourite colour schemes to work with, especially the orange one. Palettes 2 and 3 were named after the themes of the icons of mine I got the colours from and palette 1 was me thinking about heartwarming colours that reminded me of holiday time.
I was overusing the Intro font a lot so I started looking for an alternative and fell in love with 'Rainfall'. Rainfall + a fancy handtwritten font, especially a Jellyka one = win. I picked 'Castle's Queen' because it reminds me of fairy tales...
