Time To Pick Your Side

May 06, 2010 09:22

Done my stint at a polling station and start knocking up at 10. Now if I can just find my braces!!!!!!!

I've picked my side, which will hardly be a surprise to people but whatever you do... Vote (Labour).

Never Forgive. Never Forget. Never let the Tories back in.

Can't agree with your choice, but with you ALL THE WAY on those last ten words!

Good luck to you, hope your campaigning goes smoothly and trouble-free.

Going good thanks! : )

Our Candidate when last an MP voted against the Iraq war at all turns (I think 7 votes in total) which helps!

Hope you have a good 'un too.

This reminds me, I've been meaning to ask you: what guidelines are door-to-door canvasers given? I'm asking because my housemate got doorstepped by someone from Labour, and asked how he was voting. He explained that he was voting Labour, but *only* because he didn't want the Tories taking Tooting, over which the chap got really sniffy with him (which it simply wasn't his place to fucking do), and then when the guy asked if I was in, and I wasn't, he asked Dave if he knew how I would be voting ( ... )

We mainly rely on people having common sense and good manners, which is far from foolproof. Beyond that, people normally get partnered with a more experienced canvasser for a bit and sometimes there are specimen scripts to help.

If you contact your local labour party with the details then provided they can identify who it was then I would imagine words would be had with them. If you're having trouble getting a hold of anyone let me know and I'll see if I can find someone for you.

Jeez, I'm polite to people even when they say they're voting *against*

I rather suspect you're going to have a somewhat disappointing evening.

As am I, I have no love for the Tories.

What I don't understand is why Labour made such a pitiful effort with their election campaign. Perhaps they give a great deal of credence to Mervyn King's opinion?
