Wonka, Hazzard, and Remakes

I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Saturday evening with my fiancee and a bunch of friends. I'm still sorting out how I felt about the movie, and I think part of that relates to some general trends I've either observed or participated in. More on that last bit in a separate post.

You need a shorthand rating system with several metrics: how many beers one must consume for the movie's artistic merit to become apparent, it's artistic merit versus its cheese factor, the boob/explosion ratio, etc.

C'mon, Ip. I expect SO much more from you!

"shorthand rating system"... Yeah, yeah. I'll get there eventually. Although I think that "artistic merit" thing is a bit much when we're talking about things like Dukes of Hazzard. At the time I wrote this I just wanted to ramble a bit about remakes as leadup to a longer post about fanfiction vs. original fiction and fanboys vs. critics.

"expect SO much more from you"... Er, why?

Because you're taller than most people, and can therefore reach higher.
