1977. That was before children became jaded, and actually had a childhood. Most of those kids were boys and looked to be between 7 and 10. I've learned not to trust too many animation blogs. :P That, and if you look at the toy department today, it's really not like that at all. Plus they'd be shaming children who like playing dress-up, 'cause uh... that's what kids like to do. Dress like adults, which is perfectly normal and doesn't always relate to something sexual.

I wonder if there's any stories of toys trying to protect their owner from a possessed doll. That'd be neat. :o
