My sister's gonna draw me a sketch of Raggedy Andy & Marius from my novel as a late holiday present~ ♥
Awesome gifts. But none of this compares of the kindness of one woman I met this Christmas holiday. ;;
On the 23rd, the family and I followed the cousins and and my aunt to see her best friend from church named Chris. She was hosting a nice party, and she had a super adorable chocolate-brown doggie who happened to share the same name as my sister (Chloe). Naturally, I went and explored the house. Upstairs in one of the rooms, there was a closet that had of all things... *dundundun* a Raggedy Andy doll. My reaction: "zomgzomg must hold." Except he was in a plastic bag and I didn't want to risk taking him out or knocking anything over.
So I went downstairs and made small chat, casually bringing up the subject:
Me: I'm writing a novel about Raggedy Ann & Andy. :o
Guests: Ohh! I remember those!
Me: So... do any of you have one?
Guy: I think I had a Raggedy Andy.
Me: Aww! Really? :)
Guy: Yeah, I remember seeing Ann & Andy dolls all over the place. They were really popular. :)
Me: Yeah, they used to be everywhere! So I heard anyway. You'd think it'd be easier to find one, but I can't find them anywhere. Not even in a mainstream toy store or something.
Guest: That's right... What happened to them? :o
Me: I don't know. You like... you have to go on the Internet if you want one or something. And you gotta go to a specific site. It sucks. :(
Chris: I have a Raggedy Ann that was made for me by my aunt when I was a little girl. :)
Me: Awwww! Really? That's so sweet. :)
Chris: I think I still have her. Want to follow me upstairs?
Me: Oh my gosh, oh my gosh... yes please! ;;
So I bolted to the stairs and followed Chris and my aunt (who decided to come along) upstairs, and we went to a different room and closet. Sure enough, Raggedy Ann was there in all her floppy, smiling glory. ;;
Me, Chris & Aunt: AWWWW!
Aunt: She's so cute!
Me: She's adorable! ;; omgomg May I hold her?
Chris: Of course~
Me: *holding Ann* Oh my god, I can't believe this is happening. ;;
Chris: You can keep her if you like. :)
Me: Whoa... really? oO;;;
Chris: She's my Christmas gift from me to you. :)
I just... gdsjkghkjdsgkgdskjg. I expected to hold her and put her back and that was that, but... but...!
Me: Wait... won't Ann be lonely without her brother?
Chris: I think we still have Andy. He's somewhere...
Me: I admit... I know where he is. I've... been sneaking around your house a bit.
Chris: *laughing* That's okay. :) Just be warned my daughter's room is messy...
Me: It's okay, mine's way worse. XD
So we found Andy and got him out of the bag. He's smaller than Ann, but that makes sense. He's her little brother, after all~
Chris: "My aunt made them for me and I've loved them, and now I'm giving them to you. You'll take good care of them. :)"
Me: Oh my god, this is a Christmas miracle. ;; Just... thank you so much! I'm... I'm going to read them Oscar Wilde when I get home!
Chris: They love Pride & Prejudice. :)
Me: ...Awesome.
Chris: They're big fans of Jane Austen. :)
I spent the rest of the evening clinging to Ann & Andy and grinning from ear-to-ear and thanking Chris a billion times. ;; It just... came as such a big surprise to me, you wouldn't believe it. I think my Dad asked Chris what inspired her to give me the dolls, and she said something like, "God knows."
Just... omgomgomg. She's the sweetest lady I've ever had the chance to meet and I'm so grateful to meet her. It's so rare to meet someone like her and she completely made my Christmas. So... thank you Chris. Thank you for awakening the holiday spirit in me and being so kind and... everything. I'll take good care of Raggedy Ann & Andy like they're my children, and I'll never forget the kindness you've shown me. ;; <3333
♥♥♥♥♥
Andy ought to have his signature cap when we get home. The closest I have is the beanie in my closet from when I reserved "Shadow the Hedgehog." And that might be too big for him and fit Ann's head better. XDD;;; We shall see!
I'm so happy. ;; HAVE A MERRY TOGEKISSMAS EVERYONE~!
