My thought process: Puri sucks.

I get my first letter from Long Ridge regarding my first assignment. My first opportunity for success, and what do I do? Freak out. Because all I can think about is "You get a chance to go forward like you've always dreamed of! WATCH AS YOU FUCK IT UP AND FAIL AT THE LAST POSSIBLE MINUTE ( Read more... )

Basically, it's an official writing course involving one-on-one teaching from a personal instructor on how to polish your writing that will be accepted by editors and published. I don't know how to describe it without making it sound like a scam, so you can read the entire thing here. Based off what I read, it's legit and official and it sounds like these guys know what they're talking about, as opposed to Generic Writing Workshop #3245425.

Basically, if I don't get an article or a short story out or I'm not satisfied I've become a better writer, I'm promised all my cash back. *nod*

I'm writing an informal letter about myself so my instructor will get to know me. :) Basically I tell her about the things I like and don't like, what interests me, what my hopes and dreams involving writing are, my reading tastes, etc. So I get to talk to her about my fanfiction and my novels I'm struggling with like we're meeting each other for the first time at a coffee house. :)

Problem is, when I got my email, they mentioned a different instructor than the one I was assigned. :/ So I sent an email about that. It might be a mix-up or something. Hopefully it'll be cleared up for me soon.

Unhealthy is an understatement.

While I know you probably can't afford professional help, it's something you might want to look into. Don't take that the wrong way; it's just sometimes it really helps to talk to someone who has dealt with and helped people in your situation before. This anxiety is going to cripple you far worse than any personal or skill-based shortcomings you've ever had, simply because at best you will be terrified of finishing and at worst you'll be too terrified to startA few easy exercises that helped my when my test performance anxiety got to be too much: slow down. Take deep breaths and say fuck off to the deadlines. Something not completely finished in time is better than something not finished at all. When you start, have other things around you that have nothing to do with the test. A colored pen and some blank paper if you're like me and need some doodling time to distract you when you're getting agitated. When the pressure starts to build, stop what you're doing and sketch or scribble out tiny ( ... )

Yeah, this anxiety I keep feeling... it's gotten repetitive and I think I'm bothering my friends bringing up the same issue over and over, so I think it IS something to get looked at. I've been thinking of talking to my instructor about it (as well as my dad), but as it stands, my mind is rather hazy. But I'll be keeping this on hand, and I won't give up. *CLING*
