Well since 2006 :-D. Although frankly most of the shots suck IMHO - but the whole trip was worth it for this opportunity with the "stupid wide" lens in the operator area coming into Chicago & State:
Heh, well, for someone like myself, who's grown up spending many hours, some happy, some sad, I'm just impressed that you can make the CTA look "new" to me.
Shoshin, beginner's eyes. That's what in those photos for me. Heh.
...after almost 400 shots, a few were bound to turn out - and so loved the DC and NYC subway stations.
...as for the bridge, well it only looks tricky. When you get to the main brick supports on the bridge the center walkway balloons for a short bit ... so it was taken there. :-D No I didn't crawl out on one of those steel beams... :-D Oh and the "stupid wide" lens helps too since the shot appears "further out" than it was taken.
Ya its a bikeway/walkway that is in the center of the bridge laterally and sits on the steel trusses above the road deck. Its really quite an amazing bridge for that design aspect alone.
Apparently the innards of the anchorage is quite stunning architecturally (cathedral like ceilings, etc) but closed in 2001 apparently permanently.
Laughs - no I didn't have to do anything even marginally illegal for that shot - although I suppose looking back at it - it could suggest such a thing. Sounds kinda fun too :-D [minus the whole being arrested part]
