Oh lord, midtown sidewalks are the absolute worst. Between the commuters during the week and tourists during the weekend, it never ends.

The subway temperatures during the summer are atrocious. Ironically our need to have such frigid relief when inside the trains contributes very heavily to the sauna-like platforms. >=|

Very excellent photo :)

I was amused by the icy cold trains' AC probably not helping the subway station inferno! :-D

I love NYC. If rent wasn't so damn expensive, I'd consider moving there.

If EVERYTHING wasn't so damned expensive... lol

The culture here and there are quite different and certainly have their pros and cons respectively.

Times Square is horribly tragic corporate America hell. Put back the trashiness. bon_homme_dane July 27 2008, 19:27:33 UTC
I agree....I was living most of the mid to late 90's in Europe and the shock and horror and awe I got when I saw that the Disney Store now occupies my the spot where I used to watch cheap 70's gay porn as a teenager.

The midtown sidewalk pulse fascinated me. Navigating it, threading it, working with the flow of it. I didn't have to deal with it all the time, only on trips to clients over there, but a lot of clients were in that vicinity. I got a crapton of exercise just getting from here to there ( ... )

Ya we got a crapton of exercise while there - it was great. Ahh I wasn't sure you could do that (taking pictures out of the front of the train - we got "yelled" at enough with the limited station shots we did take)

Although I did do one of these type of shots in Chicago during a train tour when the front WAS open:

And yes I so LOVE the industrial aspects of the stations - all that exposed steel and bolts showing - its wonderful.
