Artificial! That's the word I was trying to think of. It's interesting because the Russian word includes the Russian word for "art" (iskusstvenniy, where iskusstvo = art). We went to the Grand Canyon yesterday, even though it was raining. We walked up to the edge and saw gray. It was so foggy, we couldn't even see the top of the canyon, much less the bottom. So we took pictures anyway for the irony, and kept driving. Luckily, the rain cleared up a bit and we did get a chance to see the canyon in all it's glory. ( Read more... )

We've seen the world's deepest hand-dug well, a town named "Hooker" in Oklahoma, metal political cartoon artwork on the side of the highway, too many prairie chickens to count, lots of baby cows, an extinct volcano (where we walked around the rim), and some cliff dwellings and pueblo ruins. My radio alarm was set too quiet this morning, so it didn't wake me up at 7:15 like it was supposed to. Instead, I woke myself up at 8:00 with horrible anxiety dreams about moving out and not being packed yet and then not being able to find my suitcase and the plane was leaving...
