I caved to the call of the gadget

I bought an iPod nano today. It's about the right size for me memory-wise (8Gb), is a dinky little thing that'll take very little space in the universe, and seems fairly simple. It's not something to watch video on - that's just ridiculous - but for music it's got a decent screen to have a look at what I have so that's good. I didn't need the full- ( Read more... )

I resisted for ages too, but I love my nano now. iTunes is much better than I expected too. Buying music and audio with a single button click is very easy.

Did you get a cover or a case for it? I can't imagine it surviving me for very long if I don't do that.

And yes, iTunes is good too. The shop isn't exactly intuitive, though, and took me a while to figure out where the heck things are. In particular, I put things in my trolley then couldn't for the life of me find the damn thing. They'd put it in iTunes itself rather than the store, which I only discovered by accident - I had all but given up by then. Still, I now own 3 more audiobooks than I did an hour ago, and that's likely to be my downfall. Ah well.

I have obtained covers, yes. In fact, I went a bit shopping-happy and purchased multi-colour versions, fashion versions, jogging versions and discrete versions before I settled on a couple with which I'm happy.

I recommend a little window shopping first - but the nanos do sometimes scratch without a cover so it is worth the extra cash.

I recommend Podsleevz as a cover (http://www.radtech.us/Products/SleevziPod.aspx). I used one with my last iPod and really liked it. I'm experimenting with other things for my new iPod (iFrogz, which I don't really like much, and Gelaskins, which I like but don't think it provides enough protection), but I haven't found anything I like as much, so it looks like I'll be going back to Podsleevz.
