It's not all WFI

I definately understand the concern for everyone and their fear of losing some of their freedom of speech. Personally, I'm upset becaus recently I found a beautiful anime series that hints at Lolita, and now i fear talking about it in my LJ because I dont want to be banned, however i just visited the Warriors for Innocence site, and i found this:

Well, let's take a look at the two groups.

LJ - long history of pretty decent management. A few things I regard as stupid. No cases I'm aware of of outright lying to people. No known cases of scamming by those at the top. Lots of controversy, but a history of being honest.

WFI - gives people who visit the site spyware and/or adware. Uses trackback and targets people visiting it for attack. Highly dubious. Has lied at least by implication.

So... why should I trust that WFI isn't lying to me outright about not asking for everything to be banned?

You shouldn't. It's just more "Everyone's fault but ours". That's apparently their standard response to everything. "Well you shouldn't have been doing something illegal!" (Not that 99% of the targets were, it seems.) "Well LJ shouldn't have done that!"

"She made me hit her!", anybody?

Hey, i'm not saying they're innocent, I think that targeting websites and trying to make them get rid of people who have this stuff in their interests and what-not are idiots who dont know how to really do this stuff right. However, i'm also saying that they do have a point, Livejournal can choose to ban what they want, if WFI honestly tried to force LJ to stop this stuff by threatening Lawsuits or what-not, LJ would win because of the freedom of speech. I'm just saying that if you're gonna blame someone, dont put ALL the blame on them for this, since it was LJ who chose to listen to them.

And i agree. (and i didnt say pedophinles are child molesters... if you were indicating that at me) If they're really THAT concerned, they should set up country wide seminars about how to protect yourself on the internet or something... personally, i'm upset because i'm scared about posting my new love for the Loveless series because i dont want to get banned.

It's the thought crime aspect of this that worries me. I've nothing to fear from legal prosecution about anything I've done. I haven't done a thing wrong. But all of us think illegal thoughts, and sometimes write them down, whether it be slash fantasies, or fantasizing about killing their boss after a hard day.

LJ is partially to blame for these bannings because they're handling this issue in a stupid way. That doesn't change the fact that it's these WFI people who started this whole mess. It seems to me that they're very eager to demonize LJ as either being overly protective of so-called pedophiles or as being overly zealous in their journal deletion. The original post I read from WFI basically accused LJ of supporting pedophilia and child rape because they were unwilling to delete fandom journals and fanfic sites that dealt with these issues. I think WFI wants to blame everything, whatever it may be, on everyone but themselves. Just my thoughts.

Yeah and when getting your way doesn't work let's resort to name calling.
They said that live journal is a "pedophilia sympathizer"
-_____-

WFI doesn't want to admit that it's their fault too.

Could it be WfI has realized they have a great deal of angry people focusing in on them and are trying to CTA?

Exactly! I couldn't believe that post. Took all my self control not to jump into cyberspace and start bitch-slapping people.

Yeah, the "it's not our fault" is total bullshit and they don't want to be hit by the angry mob. Just look at the wording, anyway, it's basically "yes, we tattled, but LJ pushed the button, not us! Blame them!"

"Sure, I yelled 'Fire!' in a crowded theater, but it is their fault for rushing to the exits!"
