My spouse is a mathematician and I can ask her to look @ the list, but I think it would be damned near impossible to figure out how many people are affected--there's got to be a lot of overlap in those interest areas. Fans are multi-faceted... a piano-playing anime artist with food allergies who fangirls Jack Sparrow and SG1 would look like 6 different people (more, if she's got pets!). I never bothered to fill "interests" out even though I'm fairly interested in a few fandoms and slightly interested in several others,so maybe that balances things out, but I don't think it'll be terribly useful info.

And as to your questions... they'll never show us the business plan, no reason to. I wouldn't show mine around to all, either. Good luck on getting any answers at all. I think they're trying to placate you because you're asking uncomfortable questions in an intelligent way.

Or else you're getting too close to the truth. The last thing any company with money troubles wants to have people saying is that they have money troubles...

Thank you. I wasn't expecting all the data to be looked at, just the relevant ones such as slash, yaoi, anime, manga, harry potter, lord of the rings, sex, and such. I know most people don't fill them out. Over-lap would have to be an assumption. I didn't fill mine out much until I starting thinking about support groups for my disability, or the disabled in general, and if they existed on LJ. There isn't much. :\

I kind of figured that about the business plan, but I figured I might as well ask just to see if they acknowledge the fact that they do indeed have a plan, just not one for world domination.

I think I do have an idea of a possible truth that uses Occram's Razor after all, or I should say the theorem of KISS, 'keep it simple, stupid'. All it took was the realization that LJ might not have absolute control and legal responsibility over their own servers, which I ask in the first question.

Just food for thought until I get an official answer.

Good luck--you have more patience with these twits than I do. There's an old Army proverb--"Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action." 6A has gone way past coincidence and I just can't believe they're stupid enough to keep making such similar mistakes repeatedly. What distresses me is that so many fans keep saying "Okay, just one more chance..." It's like an abused wife with the guy who beats her and then apologizes.

You know. I find it oddly funny and sad that I get really excited and happy and the sheer... special-ness when someone says that someone from LJ staff responded to them in a timely manner. I'm glad that they'll look into those questions, because they are all very good questions, that I also think will help to clarify things.

But I just find it sad that I have such low expectations and opinions of lj that the fact that someone responded in the same day, I find just miraculous.
