Alright, that's it. The spam's getting a bit over-the-top. Since LJ posted that apology, this community's devolved from a unified front against an attack on freedom of expression to the usual, annoying, fandom squabble. Last check, I've seen a lot of bickering about the behavior of WFI and others, rallying cries to keep the momentum going (a good indicator, if any, that the momentum's clearly on its death-bed), varying flavors of petitions, and oh gods the self-righteous rants.
What I want to know is: wtf are you actually doing? How many of you've switched from Plus or Paid to Basic? How many of you've written to advertisers? Switched to other journals in protest? Flooded the inbox of various news agencies? Folks, I'm just one man here- if we want to prevent another such debacle, and make LJ damn sure of where their loyalty lies, there needs to be an active effort to apply political pressure in our favor. Concerted would be great- but given fandom and the usual quip about herding felines, sheer numbers will do in a pinch.
I've got but one email account, a handful of news feeds, and a list of advertisers. And I STILL haven't gotten a reply from ANY of them. Odds are it got deleted with the rest of the junk mail. But if enough of us apply pressure, then they'll notice... and eventually get a word back with us. So can some of you please stop clogging up my friends page with your thousand word rants, and help the rest of us out here?
