Hi, everybody!

This post has been a long time coming, but I didn't really know how to write it. (I kind of just want to shake everybody and bellow, "WATCH NEW GIRL, DAMN IT!") So let me take a crack at it now ( Read more... )

So so true. Consistently one of my favorite shows. I don't seek out the fandom much because I feel it lacks nothing.

It is SO good, and while I can see how easy it would have been to write it off in the early weeks, I just want to let everyone know that this show is out there, doing good work.

The fandom seems to be mostly on tumblr, which I'm not, but there are some great stories on AO3. Let me know if you decide you want recs!

You know how to pimp!

I have to say you took my fears and sold me on the one thing that I do like in a show! So, OK, at some point, I will be checking it out.

Mwahaha!

What was holding you back, and what's the one thing that made you say yes? Happy viewing!

The one big thing? the show is about relationships and people who actually have feelings for one another and is not adorkable (or at least adorkable is not the selling point.)

And they are in their thirties. I didn't want a quirky situation comedy which derived laughter from the situation. I am alll about the comedies lately (they are a perfect length and they fit my mental state) BUT I need it to be more than comedy. I need it to be people I can relate to in some way. And they way you describe it? I can!

Absolute yes on the relationships thing - the humor derives from them, rather than absurd situations. This show actually offers one of the most touching, credible explorations of male friendship I've ever seen.

I hope you love it!

I feel so relieved, having finally written this all out! And of course, still thinking about the epic posts I could make about each character individually!

THIS SHOW is actually making me want to get a tumblr, which I honestly cannot afford to do, in terms of time. If I succumb, you'll be the first to know!

it's basically got drama-level character development in service to a very funny comedy

...is probably the best description I've ever read for WHY PEOPLE SHOULD WATCH NEW GIRL, DAMN IT.

Yay! (Though putting this on tumblr seems like preaching to the choir - in my hunt for gifs, I saw pretty much every minute of every ep of season 2 broken down into five-second gifs.) GOOOOO, FANDOM!

User osprey_archer referenced to your post from New Girl saying: [...] big post about why New Girl is awesome, but then I realized that had the perfect fandom pimp post [...]
