So much for me being a DC girl.

Welp, DC, I hope you’re happy. As of right now, my regular comics pull-list contains more Marvel comics than DC. Given how much I adore those DC girls, you can understand how weird it feels.

It’s basically the fault of Kelly Sue DeConnick and Matt Fraction, the couple who are currently writing the excellent Hawkeye (Fraction), Captain Marvel and  ( Read more... )

"And proceeded to squeal and laugh and bounce with joy for three comics straight.

Man, it’s been a while since Superhero comics did that."

So. This both made me really sad because I've been feeling this way about DC for quite awhile, but it also made me happy that you found that elsewhere. I might have to jump ship myself. Which again makes me sad because I used to love DC ladies.

Except for the fact that they got rid of all my favorite female characters in the reboot: Dinah Laurel Lance, Helena Bertinelli, Oracle!Barbara Gordon, Zinda Blake... damn. Now I'm getting really sad about this!

Yeah, that gets me as well.

I wouldn't mind so much, except the books DC puts out now aren't any good, not compared to Marvel. I just dropped Worlds' Finest for being boring, and I never really got into Birds of Prey. Even Batgirl doesn't interest me (though my feelings about Barbara Gordon having been regressed played a larger role there.)

I highly recommend Captain Marvel if you want awesome ladies. There's also Fearless Defenders and an all-female X-Men title coming up.

All female X-Men book? Ooooooooh. The X-Men were actually my first superhero love, in the form of the 90s cartoon. I love the X-ladies so much.

Now I know what to look for next time I make the trip to the comic shop. This makes me happy. It also makes me really happy to vote with my dollars by supporting female creators. I want the big 2 to realize that we as fans love our female creators.

Unfortunately, I have no interest in Gail Simone's Batgirl myself which makes me really sad because I love Gail to bits and pieces and I want to support her and her career but I just can't bring myself to buy the new Batgirl.

Ooh, you tempt me with your Avengers! I've always been more of a Marvel guy, but it's been a long while since I bought any new comics. I've only picked up a few critically acclaimed arcs when they've been released in TPB form.

I see what you mean about Filipe Andrade's art. It looks a bit...jaggy.

Good point. But at least they're not the Megalosaurs from Crystal Palace park?
