Debi Watches Arrow (sydht!) 1.07: Muse of Fire

Ladies and Gentlemen , it’s the HUNTRESS EPISODE! Hooray!

All I wanted from this episode was for Helena and Laurel to be on the screen at the same time. All L wanted was for them to make out. Denied that, she said she would settle for a bare midriff.

"Oh, for a muse of fire" is the Prologue's opening line in Henry V- the speech is basically saying "sorry all we have is a theatre and some guys with wooden swords when what you deserve is huge battlefields blood and guts and... ummm, can you guys just... make do with your imaginations?"

Or at least, that's how Mr Thompson taught us it in Theatre Studies class way back when. ;)

Actually, romance that comes from understanding is one of my big romance kinks.

Me tooooo! I love superhero romances so much, specifically because of this.

I am giggling at the drawn on mask for Helena. Yay!

I'm going to have to rewatch this episode because I was so incredibly distracted by the whitewashing casting. It bugged me too much.

Is it bad that I'm hoping they don't go the Tommy becomes evil route? First, I adore Tommy. But mostly, it's just too cliched. I would rather he just... I dunno. His dad could kill him. That'd be a twist. Or better yet, he could end up trying to help Oliver against his dad. If only.

Who do you mean by whitewashing casting? Non-Italians as Italian/Sicilian people? Or did I miss someone?

(I also hope Tommy doesn't go evil. It's tired.)

You didn't miss anyone-just the whole non-Italians as Italian/Sicilians. That really bugged me. I think I've just been extra touchy about discrimination/lack of diversity issues lately. I dunno.

And also, yes-that quote in the graveyard about love was absolutely bizarre. lol.

The 'O for a Muse of fire, that would ascend / the brightest heavens of invention, etc' thing is more or less (more more than less) about pretending, and being unable to convince people, and the suspension of disbelief and people having to use their imaginations to fill in the blanks in the play.

Which fits the episode quite well, since Nobody Is Falling For Ollie's Lies.

And I love superhero romances between heroes, where there’s no secrets and they understand each other. Actually, romance that comes from understanding is one of my big romance kinks.

THIIIIIS. Oh, I love it. And I'm loving this show so far :) Glad I gave it a chance! Thanks for the awesome recap.
