Yesterday was my last official day as a resident student at the NHM - I'd always hope I'd leave when I submitted, but then my brain happened and I just took too long and now the space is better allocated to students who are actually going to get PhDs in reasonable amount of time ( Read more... )

Glad to have you back, as LJ just ain't the same without you. I can't offer any tips regarding your lap-top, but I hope you're able to sort it out, or at least get the data off the hard-drive failing all else. And yes, I can see where getting evicted from your usual working space would be a bit disruptive and bad for the self-esteem. But working from home can be good, especially when the writing gets really intensive. Do you have a specific deadline you're working towards? Best of luck with it all anyway.
