Re: Last week's epsiode of SPN.

Man, just when I'm beginning to like that show, they go and pull shit like that.

(And Ghostfacers was so awesome, as well. I feel cheated)

ETA: of course there are spoilers in comics.

Worth asking what they did?

Tacked a cliche by-the-trope rape backstory on as an attempt at giving their one-dimensional ice bitch stereotype some veneer of personality before killing her. Because sex abuse = instant character depth, dontcha know?

Ugh, how cack- but it's what we'll get until we stop watching them, right?

I assume you refer to the misleading trailer and the lamost eruqally misleading story?

Yeah, that one was not so good. I am chalking it up to a rushed script after the strike.

I don't watch trailers - as I'm watching the American showing, not the one that's actually on TV.

No, I meant the tacked-on backstory and constant madonna/whore dichotomy.

I do so miss the days when it was two white men driving through my DVD and album collection.

I did not know you played Bela.

They're not just overdone things - they're lazy cliches. Look at the way it was shown in the show - they showed it simply by faling back on those cliched shots that we know mean abuse because we've seen it a bazillion times before.

I know you'd pay her well and turn her into a person, but I don't think the Supernatural writers could do worse at writing - any female character, not just her - if they had Bill Willingham on the team.

...I think I need this spelled out as my brain is blanking on what you're referring to.

Bela. And her brand shiny new childhood abuse backstory. All the cool morally-unsound female characters have one, you know.

Wow. I totally missed the childhood abuse part when I half-watched the episode.

...I liked it better when she just killed her parents for the money.
