At least I'm not fond of these socks

It's possible, possible, that I need new shoes. I say this because my feet are damp. This of course has more than a little to do with having to walk to the tube station through clean but trampled snow and filthy road slush. But my trusty DM shoes are a little worn out now, and retaining the dampness from yesterday as well as picking up new. Lovely ( Read more... )

I'd opt for shoe shopping over clothes shopping any day - all that bloody rigmarole of trying things on, getting undressed and redressed and being far too warm.

However, I absolutely do sympathise with shopping of any sort. I know your pain (fortunately I have a sister who adores shopping, so I give her money and some of my basic requirements and she's quite content to beaver away at it like a new and exciting project) and sincerely hope you find your new shoes with a minimal of fuss and expense.

Also - so much love for your Sam Vimes reference ♥

I'd feel dirty if I didn't slip in Discworld references at every opportunity. Look at the end for the comments for example.

See, I sort of like clothes shopping a bit more.

Part of it is I have very particular taste. I don't like not being able to find anything I like, and most of the time,
especially with shoes, I can't find anything I like. It annoys me.

I wish I knew if running through a pair of shoes in a year is normal-- I can cause a pair of house slippers to break down in six months, however.

It probably is enough to kill 'em if you're wearing the same shoes every day, unless you've got a nice pair of steel-toed work boots. My sister's best friend wore one pair all the way through high school, and they never got so much as appreciably scuffed.

But they are not perhaps a fashion statement.

Hiking boots. Not expensice leather ones, but the kind that are a cross between trainers and boots. They're nice, soft, cheap, require no blisters and last between nine and fifteen months by my reckoning. Oh, and they give ankle support.

Apparently not...could you resend- with a nice long title that's easy to spot please. It's possible it was in between a bunch of spam or my mail filter caught it by accident or something.
