damn you! I loved this! and I wish I'd posted my fic after yours. damn you, damn you , damn you! XDDD

“I’m old enough and smart enough for them to hire me, yet too young and stupid to be permitted to do anything.”

“A paradox for the ages.” Dan stabbed his stirrer hard into his drink. “Actually, you look like you’re about fifteen, so maybe not so much of a paradox.”

“Age is a social construct.”

“No, age is how many years you’ve been alive.”

“Okay,” Kevin said, warming up to the challenge, “but the idea that there are certain ages that matter more than others, that’s socially constructed. Totally arbitrary.”

“You mean like the drinking age? Are you even allowed to have that martini?”

XDD I know nothing at all about Sportsnight and I had to google Dan, but i still liked this ^^

You would not believe the convoluted way I found this fic if I told you. I'm so glad I did, though. I've never even heard of Brothers and Sisters, but Dan Rydell is my absolute and utter fannish passion, and you wrote him beautifully.

Oh, thank you so much! (And now I'm curious about that convoluted route to the fic, hee!)

Convoluted: it begins with my being stalker-ish enough about poor Josh Charles to have his name on a Google alert so I can follow him wherever he goes keep up to date on his career. Which sent me this. Which (a) gave me a jolt, as I wrote a story not that long ago where Danny had an affair with a boy called Kevin ("Okay, that's not it, clearly") and (b) meant there was! unknown SN! out there somewhere! So: back to LJ; search interests for Brothers & Sisters; find likely-looking fic comm; backtrack through entries looking for fic. Success! Yay!

But I did have to have a little lie-down after all of that. Thank goodness - and thank you! - the effort was worth it.

Oh, wow! That's...wow! I had no idea. :)

Again, glad you enjoyed it! I'm writing for the sportsbackinsn challenge, actually, so hopefully I'll see you around that comm in a few weeks.

This was recced to me, and I just wanted to tell you how much I liked it. Danny Rydell is one of my all-time favourite characters, and Kevin's getting up there. It wasn't I pairing I ever imagined, but you portrayed them both beautifully, and I love their with their angsty snark. And now I realize that what Kevin really needs is to settle down with a nice Jewish boy.

Thank you! Oh, Kevin. He needs to stop overthinking himself right into trouble.

Oh Danny! So much love for this. Kevin and Dan together was such an interesting choice and was so perfect with the lines about sentence structure and social constructs. Now if only Kevin would take Dan's advice and get into a relationship where he isn't compromising himself.

My favourite part though was ESPN. Dan's on ESPN now! And though I know nothing about sport stations, I have to assume that ESPN is bigger than Sports Night which means Dan went on to bigger and better things and I *heart* that so much. Because Dan is awesome and deserves something great.

Thank you! Kevin really needs...guidance. Yes. :) And I like to think Dan went on to fabulous things, definitely.

(Apologies for taking so long to catch up on comments!)
