Fic: "Paternity Test" (Brothers and Sisters)

Nov 15, 2006 00:30

I wrote babyfic. Schmoopy babyfic. OMG, I blame it all on hormones. Sigh.

There is no way this *won't* be jossed by the actual show. But anyway. Won't make any sense if you haven't seen "Northern Exposure" (can't remember the episode number).

I love this like air. Kevin is so perfect and Tommy and the talk with the root vegetable and it's lovely and *flail*. And I *HATE* babies in my fandom.

Also, the thought of Kevin holding a baby turns me into a big mass of ovarian goo. Hee.

I wish the show would give Tommy a few more layers. Just, like, one or two. But I guess someone in the family needs to be uncomplicated.

Eeeeeee Kevin with baby. ::flail:: Hee.

Tommy has layers! There's an angry, thwarted layer and an angsty, sterile layer. Sheesh. You want MORE?

::facepalm:: I somehow blipped over the actual TITLE of this post, and spent the entire reading of the story trying to figure out how the HELL this fit into the SHOW "Northern Exposure." ("I don't remember any of these people!") I am a doofus.

That misreading aside, this was terrific. Root vegetable indeed. They even LOOK turnip-y, at that age.

Hee! They shouldn't be allowed to use that as an episode title. Confusing!

Now I'm thinking the phrase "turnip babies" and laughing a lot. I think I need a nap, or something.

I love this!

Kind of a bait and switch and Tommy, never the brightest of the Walkers if possibly the least prone to self-destruction, has never caught on.

This is so dead on for Tommy.

He has a million things to do and some of the early, shirtless work of James Marsden on his TiVo.

Ha!

I have a real problem with Balthazar Getty's face (I just...can't look directly at him) but I like Tommy and I like the brotherly dynamic. This is such a fun crack!show!

This is perfect. Seriously, I love it. I love the idea that babies love Kevin, and the things you have him say are so dead on it's a little scary. This, for example:

"Use full sentences. No baby talk. You want her brain to learn how words work, so she doesn't grow up an inarticulate blob who gets featured in a Dateline special on the intellectual poverty of America's youth."

Is hands-down fantastic characterization.
