Aug 23, 2009 23:24

For sparky77 in romanticalgirl's Minor Characters exchange. Prompt was Doc Bryan, the lost art of a good rage. Set during "Bomb in the Garden."

Title from Springsteen, "Devils and Dust," the song I will vid GK to someday.

I do love this so much. Poke and Doc compliment each other so well. Oh, poor Doc.

"Couldn't do much damage when all we had was sticks and rocks and we didn't know anybody but the groups in walking distance. Nowadays, though? We can fly halfway around the world and bomb the hell out of some poor dumb motherfuckers for the crime of not being us."

That struck me as so very Poke.

"Fight the man all you want, dawg. Just don't think it's going to do you any good."

As did that. And you captured Doc's rage and frustration perfectly. Really nicely done. Thanks for sharing!

That was a very, very good rage! And it strikes me that Poke and Bryan should not be allowed to talk to each other unsupervised all that often. They're a dangerous combination.

Thank you so much for the story! It was gorgeous and it reminded me how much I love Doc Bryan, rage and all.

Thank you! When I looked over your list of prompts that one kept lingering in my head. I hadn't thought a lot about writing Doc, so thanks for the chance to do that.

I always forget how much I love Doc. He's so awesome, but I get distracted by the shiny.
