Brucemas 2.7

I'm alive and tired and in Florida; this one's a little sketchy due to item #2 and the travel involved in getting to item #3. Also, I'm watching Clash of the Choirs, and gahhhhh, bad.

Once again, no pithy introduction, just direct to the goods. And by the goods I mean "Youngstown."

Every time Bruce sang 'li li li li li li li' last night, I thought of you. Briefly, because my head was full of BROOOOSE (and vertigo), but it was there. I believe we had three lots of 'li li li li' and two of 'sha la la la la, but I would have to go back over the setlist to be sure. I do know that we got Because the Night and there was not a dry seat in the house, and that Racing in the Street made me cry, for reasons that defy analysis.

This nitpick is not aimed at you, but the lyrics sites all have different misspellings of Monongahela and it cracks me up. *can see Monongahela river from office window*

Anyway, I love this song, and that same verse makes me shiver. Him doing that song as the first encore song was AMAZING. Because it happened in Youngstown, and the same stuff happened here and it's just glorious imagery of the industrial northern cities and what they lost. I can't be smart about it like you here; it's just visceral to me.

Like you, I love the Live version of this song. I also give it props from having the farthest distance between THE BORINGEST OPENING STANZA EVER (lyrics, not the way it's sung) to that chilling last verse.
