Random Observations from the Wizard World convention

Aug 12, 2007 09:35

We decided at the last minute to attend the Wizard World con yesterday.  We had a great time, sweated our asses off and survived the most inconvenient parking garage known to mankind.    It was my first comic con although I have been to sci-fi conventions so I had an idea of what sort of feast for the senses I was in for!

Was there really a knitting convention there too? If so that's a bad sign* as Wizard world in the past has taken up the ENTIRE convention center.

*Wizard World over the last few years has had $ issues when it came to tne convetions. They've actually stopped doing a lot of them.

Yeah, this was actually one of the few years they did it so late in the summer. I remember them being in late june to mid July in the past.

"...it was pretty obvious who was attending Wizard World and who was attending the knitting convention. (Sorry D.D.)"

That's okay. The knitters were probably dressed better than the comic geeks. But not as good as the furries. ;)
I recently read on one of the Disney boards that cargo shorts are the thing to wear to WDW instead of carrying a bag. I was going to go out and buy about 4 new pairs for our trip. Maybe I'll just get a manbag instead. Oooh, or I could knit one! With a Halloween motif. And hidden Mickeys.

I don't know that the knitters were better dressed - I saw some pretty hideous knitted accessories! And it was like 92 degrees plus so the few who were actually wearing knitted clothing had to be getting pretty ripe.... The knitters also had an average age of about 102. I did grab you one of their booklets though. there are a few pages of resources in it.

Go for the cargo shorts AND the man bag. But don't knit one. That will take the man out of the man bag. The man bags of choice seemed to feature Jack Skellington.
