Hey sorry to badger you on your journal! I just wanted to say thanks again for the bone reccomendation, I never even thought of Smithfields either which I suppose is ridiculous! Clearly I need to venture out of Camden/Hampstead more for a good bone-and a free one at that!
hey it's no matter! depending on the size of your hound it might be worth looking for deer/venison or mutton bones rather than beef though: if they're getting a bit actually in their mouth there's obviously going to be more friction and erosion of plaque. I've always heard you should avoid pig bones as they tend to splinter into sharper shards but this may just be hearsay. I know cooked poultry bones are bad for that too.
Another thing I sometimes give my dogs are rabbit skins (most game butchers are more than happy to give them to you) This is to be eaten outdooors for mess control but hair and fur is actually an important part of canine diets; it's slightly ridiculous we feed them high fibre foods to recreate the whole carcass experience. They won't eat them entirely but messing about with them and consuming a bit makes them pretty happy.
:) Most people forget smithfields exists actually!

I might have to pop in there if I get a free moment during the Gothla weekend (ha!)
Are you coming down to Gothla at all? Can't tempt you with a club full of half-naked Goth chicks?
