Done for subarashiki_ds's TWEWY revival 2011. Prompt was "Deceptive Cadence". Took about 1.5 hours from conception to completion, including the time it took to fuss about with my splatter brushes and panel sizes.

( That was the end. But endings are beginnings, too. )

I love the concept! The composition and placement of panels makes it flow nicely enough. The blood splatter and music staff are well-rendered. Joshua's last panel, with just enough blood sprinkled over it, is excellent-- I feel like it could take place before or after the gunshot, almost defying the time sequence of it in a chilling sort of way.

I'd like to mention a couple things though-- I feel like some shading in the first panel for contrast would have created a much more dramatic, stark effect. Neku's eyes in the last panel are also a bit out of place on his face for some reason. I feel like the first and last panels are very cartoony in comparison to Joshua's third panel.

Otherwise, well done, imo.

RE: critique, all very good points and I agree that those are flaws that detract from the image! Some of those flaws I noticed as well, and if I hadn't decided to force myself to finish quickly (since I have other commitments), I would take the time to fix those things. I do like the concept of this picture, though, so I may come back and redo the picture in the future, taking into account all your points!
