[TST] Trinity

Just a random write-up (themes here snagged from 1fandom this time) for me to try and properly get the dynamics of the (impossible) threesome that is Phoenix/Edgeworth/Hijikata. And most likely butchered characterization since I'm doing this with a very dead brain.

...still, I have no excuses for this.

TRINITY
Phoenix/Edgeworth/Hijikata drabblet, TST-verse

one. dozen
One bad thing about this relationship-as Phoenix quickly came to realize-was of how he would have to put up with all the Steel Samurai fanboying and collectibles and all whatnot from both of them.

two. flatter
As much as Hijikata tried his best, it was just downright impossible to hide the red that tinged his cheeks when Edgeworth complimented him about the suit he had picked for the coming ball.

three. angle
There were many, many (strange) angles about this whole relationship-everything was so different now that it was three instead of just the usual two-but somehow they were managing, and more than that they were enjoying what could possibly be the best of their lives.

four. take
He had never dared to take the hand that had been offered to him because he was so afraid that he would do nothing but ruin everything; but now seeing the two enjoying themselves so much before him, Hijikata couldn’t help but wish he had done the exact opposite.

five. need
The need that was coursing through his body was unbearable-it was burning him up from within, igniting his blood and making his stomach churn in all the wright right ways. But as much as making love with Phoenix was more than satisfying, Edgeworth couldn’t help but feel a need for something more... something more than just the two of them.

six. blush
For all his smoke and fire, Phoenix quickly came to realize just how shy the samurai really could be; it was somewhat hilarious to see the younger man quickly getting embarrassed by even the most light-hearted teases.

seven. word
Hijikata wasn’t as good with them as the other two were, but he always let his actions did all the talking instead.

eight. apathy
The apathy Hijikata displayed about his family had always intrigued the both of them-that was until they found out the reason why he had been like that in the first place.

nine. whist
To be honest, Phoenix would rather play poker instead.

ten. longing
It didn’t exactly turned out the way he had thought (or even dared to think), but Hijikata figured this ending wasn’t too bad at all.

eleven. rival
They had all been rivals towards each other-and they still were, but along with that rivalry also came a mutual understanding for one another.

twelve. style
One of the (now growing) list of things that both Hijikata and Phoenix could agree on was Edgeworth’s peculiar taste in style.

thirteen. fit
Despite all their differences and flaws, the three of them fitted together like they had belonged to each other from the very beginning.

fourteen. even
Sure, the two of them might bully him around most of the time, but he always made sure to get even back at the later.

fifteen. serenity
There were no words in the morning after their first time being three instead of two; they had all woken up at almost at the same time, and no words needed to be exchanged as they simply lay together and let the morning calm wash over them all. And in that one moment, everything was just perfect.

sixteen. lead
Unsurprisingly, Edgeworth was the one who ended up leading them around-while they were all lost on being three, the silver-haired man was still undeniably the most experienced between them.

seventeen. stress
It was hard at times, being like this-life was never perfect after all, and neither were they. There were times where the Edgeworth and Hijikata come to shouts and threats because of their thick-headedness (though Phoenix has to admit he’s not much better), and times where Phoenix himself feels frustrated at how hard it is to understand the two people closest to him (while he admits Hijikata is notably easier to read, there are still times when the samurai does the most unexplainable things-though again, he himself is not much better), and also times where he finds himself coming to fierce words with Miles and it falls to Toshirou of all people who has to stop them.

Still, they try; they compromise and make up and try to accept each other’s flaws and weaknesses. While at times it fails to work, they still do their best to make it happen-after having taken so long to be together, it would be for nothing if they were going to part yet again.

eighteen. white
That’s all he can see when he reaches the peak, oblivious to how he’s grasping handfuls of silvery hair in his hands, fingers knotting around strands and joints as his moans of ecstasy echo in the cabin they were in.

nineteen. end
Both of them thought the same thing when they saw that note, with those five words written in black in his (beautiful) handwriting: Commander Miles Edgeworth chooses death.

twenty. snow
He remembered that wish he had made upon the snow, that one time all those years ago when he was in the dojo with her and when she had told him about the belief. Now so many years down the road, Hijikata finally made his second wish upon the snow, closing his eyes and breathing in the Tulgim air as he only wished out one thing: Thank you.

twenty one. bizarre
Both Phoenix and Edgeworth really couldn’t help but wonder just where had Hijikata ever gotten his bizarre taste for mayonnaise from.

twenty two. window
‘Eyes were the windows to the soul’, the saying had went. But no matter how Phoenix had tried, Edgeworth had always kept his own windows shut with the gray of steel and looming storm clouds.

twenty three. buffer
Phoenix was the buffer between Edgeworth’s stoic demeanour and Hijikata’s constant inclination to blow up at almost every matter. It was a good arrangement, alright, but the reporter couldn’t help but wonder sometimes just exactly what kind of arrangement he had signed himself up for.

twenty four. full
In the end, only Hijikata managed to walk away from the diner with a full stomach-the other two couldn’t find it within themselves to stand eating alongside the samurai.

twenty five. average
It was pretty much the last thing any of them were right now.

twenty six. passion
All of them burned with it, along with lust and raw desire as they made love to each other for the first time that night.

twenty seven. rest
After working three straight days without sleep, it had been Edgeworth-workaholic Edgeworth-who had to finally drag the samurai out from his desk and pushed him to the bed and would not let him leave until the other had fallen asleep. While that had worked, the silver-haired man certainly did not expect himself to have drifted off as well. Though, the extra rest certainly was quite worth it.

twenty eight. culture
All three of them lived and breathed in completely different lives and cultures-and while at times it got in the way of having them understand each other, most of the time it was more interesting rather than annoying.

twenty nine. mystic
Edgeworth was the only one among them who didn’t believe in things like spirits and ghosts-that was, of course, until he had went to the Silvana.

thirty. stranded
Out alone and left to die, all Edgeworth could do was to try and hang on to his last threads of life.

thirty one. grave
Hijikata always made sure to visit her grave whenever the Victoria II was docked; but now instead of going there alone, he was accompanied by the two most important people in his life.

thirty two. blue
The colour of Phoenix’s eyes had always been enthralling to Hijikata, and he constantly found himself lost in those blue depths just like Edgeworth would quietly admit between the two of them.

thirty three. repent
Both officers knew that they could never fully make up for what they did, but the most they could try to do was to repent-and then to push on with their lives and move on forward.

thirty four. wing
They were never alone-other two would always be his wings (one for each of the pair) no matter where they were.

thirty five. drip
The room was already hot, and it was only getting hotter as they continued on with their tryst, their voices oddly silent even as sweat poured over their skin and dripped from the edges of their jaws and chins.

thirty six. luminous
Phoenix could only sigh in exasperation when he saw the lights still on from under the doors of both of their rooms and wonder there and then what crazy force within him drove him to fall in love with two utter workaholics.

thirty seven. spoon
Both of them immediately blanched the moment Hijikata walked into the cafeteria with his meal, waving a spoon around as he made his way over to the bench the duo were on.

thirty eight. past
Even though they were still working on the ship that had brought nothing but disaster and pain into their lives in the past, at least now they were contented-and all of them no longer had chains of the past to break them apart.

thirty nine. deceive
No matter how much he tried to deceive himself, Hijikata could not turn away from the fact that he was in love with both of them-and the realization of that shattered his heart completely.

forty. least
Hijikata was the least experienced out of them all, but what he lacked in experience was made up with passion and desire.

forty one. prestige
Only two people were ever given the honor of catching Miles Edgeworth completely off guard without question, and those two people would constantly use it to their advantage.

forty two. front
They were at the front of everything that went on with the ship, and in the back there was Phoenix, supporting them both.

forty three. language
Phoenix only found himself lost in the stream of foreign language that was thrown between the other two-Hijikata called it ‘Solarese’, but Edgeworth only called it ‘some fancy foreign language’.

forty four. gear
At the call for battle, both officers geared up for the coming fight; Phoenix flailed a bit when he was forced to care for the other passengers, but he knew it was only because they both trusted him.

forty five. sparkle
Chi positively sparkled in glee when she entered the room to find her three favourite humans together in bed and promptly leapt up to join them-though all that happened after that were shouts of surprise and possibly one of the most awkward moment in all of the trio’s lives.

forty six. answer
He had only found the answer to his questions in his time away from Ivona-and in a way, it had helped when he returned.

forty seven. spirit
Each one of them had a spirit that looked over them-Edgeworth had his father, Phoenix had Mia, and Hijikata had Mitsuba. They never talked about them much, but they always knew they were nearby and watching them being together.

forty eight. return
Hijikata had all but pleaded for Edgeworth to return to the Victoria II-and that he did eventually, as a fellow boatswain alongside the man.

forty nine. flash
Edgeworth felt his blood turning cold and his body freezing the moment lightning flashed outside the window, but what made him jump was the slamming of the open door as both Hijikata and Phoenix pretty much barged into his room to see if he was alright. He called them both idiots, but deep in his heart he was glad that they cared so much for him.

fifty. clasp
Together they held each other’s hands, warm and caring, and walked down the path together from one world to the next.
