I love this - what else is new? - but just so you know, you have some verb tense confusion. You flicker between past and present a lot.

Still, this is great, as usual - I love this quote: He could talk in circles for hours, if he had to, long past the point where Gippal remembered what the question had been. That is so freaking Baralai it's not even funny. I'm terrible at doing stuff like that, but we all know he'd be the master.

Also, I love the description in the sixth paragraph - I really got a word picture. =D Which is a very, very good thing. It was a really sexy word picture.
