Help Me Play These Cards

I have a choice: Join Joe at the Mountain for Fall Gathering Thursday for the long weekend or stay here and enjoy some quiet, relaxing down time. I have waffled back and forth every few hours since I started thinking about this again Sunday evening ( Read more... )

Stay home, babe. It might be re-energizing for you both.

Yeah, today I am hearing that. I need to shake the waspers from my head loose through the end of this week, really REST (I have been more than frazzled for a long stretch now), and do some things I have been wanting to but haven't for awhile.

Thanks for the advice, Buddy.

if you stay home, will you actually accomplish any of that on your list?

if not:

go... enjoy the last gathering before winter... cuddle with your bugger... open yourself up to possibilities...

Yeah, I actually will. :) Once decided, I'm pretty determined. Virgo here.

I think what I need to do is open myself to some possibilities here, some things to launch on my own, that I can share with my Fella once he gets back. Plus, I really need the rest.

Hard to resist the known draw of the Mountain, the Faeries, and crazy Joe, though.

Thanks for the advice, Bub -- as always.

Both? Go a little late (even a half-day) or leave a little early. Or does having just one set of wheels preclude this?

Yeah, the car situation sort of stymies things. If I were to go, I'd have to catch a ride up with friends on Thursday morning. As far as I know, no one is going up after.

And I work through Wednesday. I guess I'm feeling sort of rushed, too, about getting ready by then, so that's another factor towards my staying here, I reckon.

He looks really familiar! Not sure if I've met him before or not. I'll have to friend him here and do some more gabbin' with him!

Thanks!

What cds do you want?

I couldn't answer this question..It seems both decisions have very strong pros..

I've really been getting interested into -- since listening to the Be Good Tanyas -- quirky updates of traditional country, bluegrass, and folk. Sincere backwoods music, the rural folks' punk.

Want to look into getting something by The Handsome Family, Freakwater, or The Asylum Street Spankers.

I know ... I hate when I'm this indecisive. I just need to adjust myself to a choice and stick with it so that I don't regret whatever choice I make. Want to do both a LOT. But I think I would suffer the choice less if I stayed here, wouldn't have so much to worry about once the week was over, and I actually do need the time to myself to dig into a few things.

16 Horsepower...You need that.Freakwater ain't too bad.Never heard of the other two you mention.
You stumped me again,Man!
I've been on a longtime nosie kick, though,so I'm outta the loop.

Take some time out..Then when Joe gets back, set a weekend for just the two of you to do something.

Is 16 Horsepower a Freakwater album? Wonder if you might not like The Handsome Family -- husband-wife team who sing really dark, haunting traditional folk songs. The wife was a writer and does these fucked-up surreal, hopeless writings for the songs. Makes me think of ... what's his name? ... Richard Thompson?

That's the one I want first ... then we'll see if I can afford any more.

Thanks, B. You know? That last makes much sense to me. I'll make some time to see him when he gets back. In the meantime, I'll try and get some outside time for myself, get some work done, do some plunked-up Jason things. Thanks.
