I found out last night that my father had had a heart attack yesterday morning. He was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Thankfully, he is evidently recovering very well after receiving a stint

Thanks, Fella. Evidently, he is doing well. Still, I have this odd sense that things have radically changed. I guess it must be that I've never lost anyone close to me (what luck: at the age of 33), and this comes as the closest thing to it so far, a reminder of the tangibilty of mortality.
Sorry to hear about your Dad. My Dad is 62 and had a first heart attack when he was 50 (and another a couple of years later). He seems to be doing OK, despite having problems with smoking.
So it is possible for your Dad to have a good recovery. He will have to make to changes in diet, exercise, etc., but with modern medicine he can bounce back.
That's good to hear. I guess my Dad must be a fairly good portrait of health, seeing as this is his first heart attack, and he's 66. Both his parents died of heart attacks, though. Still, the doctor's prognosis is a good one.
To echo Ben's sentiments, a healthy recovery is possible. My dad had a heart attack a number of years ago. He doesn't take as good care of himself as he should, but his quality of life is still pretty good.
Yeah, my Dad's a workhorse, even if he eats poorly. I guess that bodes well for him. He's going to have to drop one of his three retirement jobs, though -- definitely the warehouse job!
